~Dodge City Vet Loves Your Pet~

Dodge City Veterinary Hospital has been in business since 1986, started by the late, Dr. Jimmy B. Smith, Sr. The practice has been in its new location since January 2007. Dodge City Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary medical facility, located in Denham Springs, Louisiana.
We've gone DIGITAL! We are excited to have recently added digital x-ray services to our hospital and add to the care that we can provide for your pets. We continue to make great advances in dental care. We have always offered basic services for dental care such as dental cleaning and extractions, but there is so much more out there. Digital dental x-ray is here! Yearly dental x-rays are recommended for your pet to help diagnose underlying problems. Application of sealants is recommended for all pets, but especially for pets who have chronic and recurring dental disease. Our sealants are similar to the clear sealants applied to children's teeth to help prevent further tooth decay and cavaties. Sealants lasts on the teeth for approximately 6 months (depending on the wear of the teeth by the individual pet). This helps bacteria from clinging to the teeth, which is the source of tartar and plaque formation. Dental bacteria spreads throughout the entire body of your animal and can be the source of many health related issues and/or worsen the symptoms of others. It is shown that keeping your pet's teeth clean helps prolong longevity. We also recommend fluoride treatment following dental cleanings. The fluoride helps to harden the enamel and smooth the enamel, which in turn also increases the interval between dental cleanings. We can now repair chips in the enamel and fractures in the enamel, as long as the pulp cavity is not exposed. By restoring the tooth we lessen the chance of decay and tooth loss in the future. We are excited about offering these new services! If these new services, or any of our regular services, can benefit your pet or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call for an appointment at (225) 664-6441.
